Welcome
The Village of Pomona was formed on February 3, 1967 to fulfill the vision of a close-knit community vested in their rural roots. The Village is located in Rockland County, New York, with half of the Village in the Town of Haverstraw and the other half in the Town of Ramapo. The Village has about 3,000 residents.
The Village founders chose a name that reflects these rural roots. In Roman mythology, Pomona is the goddess of fruit trees, gardens and orchards.
Pomona has three Village parks, and is near many other parks, including Harriman State Park. Harriman State Park is the second-largest park in the New York State park system, with 31 lakes and reservoirs, 200 miles of hiking trails, m
