Broadalbin is one of the first towns to be organized in the area known today as Fulton County. Prior to February 1, 1799, Broadalbin included the present day Town of Northampton. In 1842 a small portion of our town was reassigned to Perth. Additional inhabitable acreage was lost when the Sacandaga Reservoir (now known as the Great Sacandaga Lake) was constructed and flooded in 1930.
